12 reinas de Egipto que cambiaron la historia
Tallet, Pierre
Throughout its three thousand year history, Pharaonic Egypt was ruled only four times by a queen who officially adopted all the attributes of a monarch. However, there were not a few who, as regents during the minority of a king, actually directed the State, sometimes for more than a dozen years. Others, on the other hand, had a notable influence through her husband's mediation and participated in the country's politics, representing at her side a role that was both political and religious. This work brings together the portraits of twelve queens whose features have been transmitted to us by numerous monuments. The best known -Hatshepsut, Tiyi, Nefertiti and Nefertari- join others that are less so, but all of them left their mark on their time, either because their presence guaranteed the continuity of the State or, just the opposite, because they threatened the stability of this through his intrigues at court. By describing these twelve unusual queens, Pierre Tallet makes us relive great moments in Egyptian history, from its origins to the end of the New Kingdom.
