Agua pasada

Matlwa, Kopano

When they were teenagers, Mohumagadi and Bill had a love affair that ended abruptly and traumatic. Fifteen years have passed, and all that is past water. She, Mohumagadi, runs an elite school for gifted children, from where she contributes to transforming her beloved country -which we recognize as post-apartheid South Africa- by applying an effective and modern pedagogical method that attracts the new wealthy ruling class: the born free generation that has amassed a fortune, whose children are expected to be the leaders of the world of the future. One day, unaware that it is her youthful love, Mohumagadi is forced to hire Bill, turned priest and sent to school to atone for a guilt about which she is silent. When they finally meet and recognize each other, the past emerges in a torrential way, muddying the ideal atmosphere of the school and changing the course of two people who believed they had redirected their lives to the right path.
