In the 21st century, Russian poetry continues to be a great unknown among the Spanish-speaking public, so it is necessary to make known, at least, an essential part of it. Existing translations are scarce and, although some reflect the Russian originals with more than acceptable rigor and aesthetics, there are others whose quality does not always match the artistic level of the translated poet. In this case, the selection of poets and poems is due, first of all, to their relevance in Russian literary history; secondly, to the criteria of legibility and intelligibility; thirdly, poets that have not been translated into Spanish up to now have been chosen preferably and, in the case of the selected authors already translated, mostly unpublished translations of them have been included. Therein lies the novelty of this edition, prepared with great care by Joaquín Torquemada, and which offers the broadest possible panorama of the works, authors, movements, currents and trends that mark Russian poetry in recent centuries.
