Barcelona: de la ciudad acabada al territorio metapolitano
Rodríguez i Villaescusa, Eduard
Barcelona confined within its administrative limits can be drowned by the lack of territory and resources to continue growing. Exhausted the territory in which to expand, modern cities look towards their interior space, as the only possible area where to guide their necessary modernization. Barcelona is obliged to do so if it does not want to be left behind. Should we declare the city of Barcelona as a finished city? What new urban realities would it entail? What would be the urban consequences and what resolutions could be derived? The author analyzes the cases of other finished cities and their conversion to metapolitan territory, such as Singapore, Paris or Washington, city-territory that have already gone beyond the concept of Metropolis.
