García, Santiago (1968- )

Rubín, David
Santiago García and David Rubín have combined their talents to update the myth of Beowulf, which for more than a thousand years has inspired generations of authors, from J. R. R. Tolkien, based on the heroic poem of the same title, a founding work of English literature. even a good number of Hollywood screenwriters. Although the text was written in what is now the United Kingdom, it is about the adventures of a Scandinavian hero in lands that currently belong to Denmark and Sweden: a monster, Grendel, has arrived in the kingdom of the Danes. For twelve years, he devours his women and men, until Beowulf arrives from the other side of the sea to try to save them. But in addition to the complete version proposed by García and Rubín, which faithfully follows the plot and three-act structure of the original text, this special 10th anniversary limited edition of Beowulf includes important additional material such as sketches, pencils, , inks, character studies by Rubín himself, the 22 never-before-published plates of the unfinished Beowulf drawn by Javier Olivares, the origin of the project, along with a profusion of graphic notes from that work, and the text "Myths and legends. Ten years later of Beowulf" written by Santiago García.
