Breve historia del Ejército Rojo

Moreno Sanz, Vicente

Discover the history of the Red Army from its inception as the Tsarist Army was reshaped during World War I, to becoming one of the largest and most feared armies on the planet after World War II, to its dissolution with the fall of the communist regime of the USSR in 1991. The soviets took advantage of the discomfort of the Russian people and their desire to put an end to The Great War, to impose a new communist order. The creation of the Red Army allowed them to have a broad power base, especially after the outbreak of the Civil War. Its ultimate acid test came during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). When the Nazis invaded the USSR, the Red Army stood up to the invasion and eventually managed to drive them back to Berlin. In the postwar period, the Red Army became the backbone of the Warsaw Pact forces, taking part in different confrontations (Cuba, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan). The Red Army was a fundamental pillar of the regime until the breakup of the USSR and its dissolution in 1991.
