Campos de Castilla

(il.)
Campos de Castilla is a key work of 20th-century Spanish poetry: a heartfelt tribute to Spain and its people that marked a before and after in Antonio Machado's literary career. So much so that the intellectual Bernardo G. de Candamo expressed himself in these terms in La Vanguardia in 1912: "We are facing a case of artistic transformation (...). That is to say that Antonio Machado, the one from before, is nothing more than a homonym of the one from now". In fact, Machado's text explored new poetic, historical, and social fields and became a critical and public success that has continued to this day. Through a unique sensitivity and boundless creativity, David de las Heras illustrates this collection of poems so that it comes to life in front of the eyes of today's readers. To do this, he resorts to a wide chromatic range, different artistic genres and pictorial references that refer to the Golden Age, but which are surprisingly close. Literature and art come together in a succession of verses and images that shed unprecedented light on an immortal classic.
