Canción de despedida

XLII Premio de Novela Felipe Trigo

Hernández Janes, Elisenda

The friendship of Isa, Gloria and Lucía goes back to their school years. Together they have fought a thousand battles, but time has loosened ties that seemed unbreakable, and the wounds of the past and the misgivings of adulthood prevent them from sharing everything as they did then. In their mid-thirties, the three embark on a trip to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in search of Marga, a fourth childhood friend who disappeared without explanation ten years ago. Following her steps, they will face the questions of yesterday while trying to reconcile with a present different from the one they had dreamed of. The fear of aging, the desires and fears of motherhood, the marital routine, family servitudes, past traumas or sexual concerns are some of the issues that come to light throughout this emotional walk, as well as the complicities that last and those who stayed by the way. Narrated from three points of view, Farewell Song delves into the souls of the protagonists through her voices. Through her concerns and intimate desires, Elisenda Hernández Janés focuses on the existential doubts, disappointments and taboos of a generation, in this bittersweet novel, but full of tenderness, about the ups and downs of friendship and the tricky refuge of the nostalgia.
