Written in his direct and meticulous style as an accusing lawyer, Letter to the Father is an extensive memorial of grievances with which Franz Kafka appeals to his father Hermann -distant and authoritarian- to reproach him for all the mistakes and faults he has committed in their relationship, and also all emotional shortcomings. At the same time it is an essential key to understanding Kafka's life and work, her deepest roots, her most intimate anxieties and wounds. Surely Kafka is the one who best embodied the anguish and oppression of the twentieth century, in which individuals face forces that -like their father- are too powerful and incomprehensible. His writing, always oscillating between a prodigious symbolic imagination and the most precise realism, transcended the literary world.
