Cazas y ases en España 1936/39
combate aéreo en el preludio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial
Martínez Canales, Francisco
The fighter jets, begun to be manufactured in a Europe overwhelmed by the Great War, arrived at the Spanish Military Aviation without the urgency required by an armed conflict; but circumstances changed during the 1930s, when the agitation of new ideologies born in the 20th century that were shaking European politics, translated into Spain, as it had already happened in other countries, in a gradually radicalized confrontation that crystallized in civil war. The emerging sides sought external material support for their respective causes, and in the case of fighter aviation, the importance of which had been evident in the Great War, foreign aid was of particular importance. The European powers soon sent planes and pilots to Spain, to test and train them respectively, with a view to a great armed conflict that was suspected to be near. Flying a fighter means flight, speed, acrobatics, risk and prestige, factors that attracted young nationals and foreigners who fought in the skies of Spain, many of them becoming aces to aviation. The reader will find in the pages of this book the story of those pilots, told many times in the first person, will know the characteristics of their aircraft and experience the intense aerial duels that were the prelude to a new great war. All this accompanied by the abundant selection of photographs, which characterize the books in the Images of War collection.
