Celtas, castrexos e romanos
á procura dun pasado na historia de Galicia
González García, Francisco Javier
Where are the origins of the Galicians? This is a question that has been given very different answers for over a century and a half. Depending on the time in which we live, the Celts, the Castrejos or even the Romans were considered our ancestors, as we can see in the texts of Galician scholars and historians of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Celts, castrejos and Romans synthesize the main historical processes of Galician antiquity: the appearance of the castros and their transformations, the role of war in the social and cultural life of the populations of the northwestern peninsula or the changes they experienced after the Roman conquest. All these processes cannot be understood without the prominence of the different peoples who lived in a geographical space that overflowed the current territory of Galicia.
