Después del diluvio
Montag, Kassandra
Just over a century ago, our world underwent a tremendous transformation. After the sea rose in level and made its way across the continent, the waters erased the large coastal cities of the United States and much of its territory from the map, leaving only an archipelago of mountain peaks where colonies proliferate, surrounded by sea open. Myra, a headstrong and independent woman, and Pearl, her precocious seven-year-old daughter, fish with their barge, the Bird, and land only to seize food and information in the few remaining pockets of civilization. For seven years, Myra has mourned the loss of her eldest daughter, Row, abducted by her father after a monstrous wave engulfs her home in Nebraska. But during a violent clash with a stranger, Myra learns that Row has been spotted in a remote camp near the Arctic Circle and, putting aside their usual caution, they set out on a perilous journey across the frozen North Seas, wishing that, against all odds, Row continues there. On their journey, Myra and Pearl will join forces with a larger ship, and Myra will feel, to her surprise, increasingly united with the other crew members, who hope they can build a safe haven together in this dangerous new world. But secrets, lust, and betrayal threaten her dream, and after everyone's fate takes an unexpected and bloody turn, Myra is faced with the dilemma of whether Row is worth saving at the expense of putting Pearl in danger. and his companions.
