After several years living in Paris, Julieta returns to Santander, the city where she spent her childhood in the care of her beloved aunt Inés. Upon her arrival, she finds that her aunt has suffered a health breakdown. From her hospital bed, she tells her niece the unusual and secret story of her life, plagued by old sins with long shadows. The young Inés, who dreams of being a teacher, lives with her brothers and her brutal and violent father, but a tragic twist of fate will push her to abandon her family and start a new life. First in Santander, where she will have to take care of a pension, and later as a teacher in a small school in the Picos de Europa, Inés will live an exciting adventure that will make her value friendship and love; and she will experience the bitterness of hatred and betrayal.
