Dicionario do Galego de Asturias (DGA)

The Diccionario do Galego de Asturias (DGA) was born from the urgent need to collect the lexical richness of the dialectal linguistic area of the Eo-Navia region, formed by nineteen municipalities, following the guidelines of Professor Francisco Fernández Rei. The germ came from the Mesa prá Defensa do Galego de Asturias (MDGA) and the continuation of a project already conceived by the renowned philologist Dámaso Alonso. To date, there have only been a number of vocabularies in some municipalities or places, but no county projects as a whole. The Dictionary is the sum of the analysis of these published sources and the fundamental collection made to a good bunch of informants. The Dictionary will be structured in entries, phrases, proverbs and places of collection of the term. In conclusion, it is a precise contribution to the Galician linguistic corpus, and an immense thanks to the eonaviegos, for their love in the conservation of the Galician language century after century, despite the many obstacles, still being aware that this is a process open to new additions.
