Cicerón, Marco Tulio

The seven speeches of Marcus Tullius Cicero collected in this volume are marked by the orator's exile (58-57 BC). Due to the political struggles that took place in the Senate between the oligarchy (of which Cicero was a supporter) and the democratic faction (led by Julius Caesar), the events precipitated the former's departure from Rome, after the success of the movements to isolate him. of his staunchest adversary: Publius Clodius. Upon his return to the capital, Cicero returned to practice as a lawyer and in his speeches and arguments the shadow of exile and the turbulent times that the city was experiencing is always present. The first six texts were pronounced by him between September 57 and May 56 BC. C. The last one, "In defense of T. Anio Milón", from the year 52, is closely related to the previous ones, since Milón was the murderer of Clodio.
