Penny is an artist and has lived in the same apartment for several decades, surrounded by the objects and memories of her long life. Resigned to the trivial rituals of old age, she one day begins to slip. Years ago, before the death of her longtime partner, preparations were made, unknown to her, to reserve a room for her in a singular residence where, after suffering too many "incidents", she ends up entering. At first, accompanied by people like her, talking, contemplating the beautiful woods that surround the house, everything goes well. She even starts painting again. But as the days begin to blur, Penny, with a growing sense of unease and mistrust, begins to lose track of the passage of time and her place in the world. Is she succumbing to the subtly destructive effects of aging or is she unknowingly participating in something more disturbing? A compassionate and strange novel at the same time, narrated with an austere and hypnotic prose, and difficult to classify in a specific genre.
