Dos nuevas comedias y algo más
Fernán-Gómez, Fernando

(ed.)
If at the end of 2019 we present in an exquisite and careful edition Teatro de Fernando Fernán Gómez, where all his dramatic works (the best known, the most awarded and a good handful of unpublished and unknown until that moment) met for the first time, now -On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Fernando Fernán Gómez- we bring to light the latest discoveries related to his role as a playwright and man with a passion for theater. It is, on the one hand, two theatrical pieces (On the part of mother and Estebanillo) of which until now we only had evidence for some brief and concise mention among the thousands of pages written by the author himself in his splendid work as an essayist and , on the other hand, of a project for performances in Madrid during the '82 World Cup, a theater party entitled Madrid, breakwaters of all Spain (adorned in its original with a series of images that give an account of the author's well-known multi-facetism) and from a 1999 conference scheduled for the Spanish Film Library (where he again explores the relationship between cinema and theater from his experience as a creator and worker in both disciplines). These four texts make up an essential set to deepen his dramaturgy and even to better understand the life and work of the great total creator; helping us to establish with greater precision the details of his brilliant artistic career in which - as we have already said - the theater occupies the top and, at times, is the deepest chasm; all this without having to renounce the amenity that characterizes it, since we find here the best orality, the finest humor and the most accurate critical irony.
