When mountaineer Nick Grevers emerges from a coma, he discovers that his climbing partner is missing and presumed dead. Nick, whose face is covered in bandages and horrible wounds, claims amnesia. But he actually remembers everything. He recalls how they both felt a uniquely magnetic attraction to Maudit, a remote and sparsely documented peak in the Swiss Alps. He remembers the impression that they were not alone. He remembers that there was something or someone waiting up there... And he doesn't say that now he has a strange feeling. As if something had awakened inside him.
