The stone cycle collects the most significant poems of that creative adventure and exposes a complete and complex image of the author's literary expression and social thought. Gabriel Aresti used his biography to turn it into an allegory of a social nature. The poet, who had read the classical Basque writers carefully, expressed his urban world through a poetic diction that underlined the daily register in order to achieve a direct and easily understandable poetry. His poetic work was much discussed in his time, but his creative positions were followed by young people and he has had a substantial influence on contemporary Basque writers.
