El detective salvaje

El detective salvaje

Lethem, Jonathan

The Savage Detective begins with a woman's visit to a private detective: Phoebe Siegle, a sarcastic New Yorker, shows up at Charles Heist's dilapidated trailer on the outskirts of Los Angeles to help her find Arabella, the daughter missing from her friend. The only clues she can give him are a quirky Buddhist community in California and Leonard Cohen, who the girl is obsessed with. A loner of few words who keeps a pet possum in his desk drawer, Heist will readily accept the exuberant and talkative Phoebe as his mate. The unusual couple will embark on a journey among the homeless on the outskirts of Los Angeles and through the most inhospitable places in the Mojave desert, where strange societies live outside of all law and order.
