The Fourth of July is an important day for Helen Parker. She had always dreamed of seeing fireworks from the top of the Empire State Building, but what she would never have imagined was that a Moonbeam would make her a magician. Helen was that girl of Chinese-American origin who tried to go unnoticed, the one who dipped her head into her sketchbooks and avoided thinking about the future of her first relationship by helping out at her parents' restaurant. However, now that she knows the hidden side of New York, nothing will ever be the same again. Elmoon School of Magic reopens its doors. This is where they instruct those who were struck by lightning. While she is only a newcomer trying to control her new powers, in Elmoon they try to find out what is behind the strange events that are taking place in New York. The magic has awakened.
