El humor y su sentido
(España, siglos XVIII-XXI)
Calvo Maturana, Antonio Juan
(ed.)
The debate about humor and its limits shakes our public opinion almost daily. We argue about what can be joked about and what can't be joked about, and in what tone; we try to make laughter compatible with respect for the most sensitive issues (beliefs, institutions, honor) but we have more than assumed that it is not possible (or even convenient) to erase it from our faces. And it is that never as today the sense of humor (the ability to emit and receive the comic) has had so much prominence in areas traditionally considered "serious", such as politics or academia, nor has it been associated with charm and charisma (the grace) of a person. This book studies the process that has brought us here in the last two and a half centuries. We will deal with national topics, anticlerical satire and feminist humor, as well as sexist humor; we will find them in art, literature, the press, radio, cinema or social networks; and we will do it hand in hand with characters such as Goya or Emilia Pardo Bazán.
