El ocaso de Roma
Miguel, Carlos de
End of the 3rd century AD: Flavio Constantius, a young and promising soldier, before leaving on a campaign for Palmyra, leaves Helena, his pregnant young wife, on his way to the city of Naissus with the only company of a young slave. The two women will have to survive without help and with very few means, with the uncertainty of whether Constancio will come back to look for them. In deep solitude and on the verge of poverty, Helena will give birth to a child, Constantine, who will be called to be the last great emperor of Rome. Lost track of his wife and son, Flavio Constantius dedicates himself entirely to his military and political career, establishing powerful ties with the Emperor Caro and his family, which allows him to obtain the government of the province of Dalmatia and live in Salona, where he will meet Valerio Diocles, influential official and future emperor. Between ambition and guilt, unaware of future reunions, the governor's life unfolds while Helena and young Constantine struggle to survive in the face of adversity.
