"The Iron Heel" is called to be the first dystopian novel of a political nature in English-language literature and, possibly, one of the first contemporary literary dystopias in world literature. It has all the ingredients of the modern dystopia that will be continued by authors such as Zamiátin, Huxley, Sinclair Lewis, Orwell, Bradbury or Burguess.
