Elogio de la riqueza
por qué ser rico es un deber moral de todo ciudadano
Hernández-Pacheco, Javier
Most people would like to be rich, even if they don't admit it. In our world, being wealthy is synonymous with being bad and economic worries create a bad conscience among those who harbor them. However, the philosopher Javier Hernández-Pacheco maintains in this essay that, although it is scandalous, the claim to enrichment is an expression of the noblest humanity. The author moves away from Manichaeism that affects our perception of economic phenomena and criticizes that the philosophical consideration of it has often been done from theoretical positions very foreign to the life of the businessman, and from antipathy and suspicion. In Praise of Wealth shows that the apparent contradiction between the natural desire for wealth and the demands of a morality of generosity and selflessness is nothing more than a false dilemma. The reissue of this classic of thought exposes that we have a moral obligation to be rich, since capitalism and solidarity are two sides of the same coin.
