Es tan fuerte la noticia
Castro Hernández, María
Four years of intense research support this documentary novel about the case of Vicente Rueda, accused of murder and shot in 1940, without being able to (or could) prove the innocence that he always defended. On November 6, 1936, Madrid is a city surrounded by rebel forces. That morning, while the government of the Republic prepares to flee to Valencia, three men arrive at the Modelo prison, in Moncloa. With the "euphemism" of transferring the prisoner Luis Calamita Ruy-Wamba, director of the newspaper Heraldo de Zamora, to the Chinchilla prison, they took him out of the prison and moments later executed him on the exterior brick wall that surrounds the building. Three and a half years later, on August 9, 1940, Vicente Rueda, 28, was shot to death on the wall of the La Almudena cemetery in Madrid, accused of that crime. Was Vicente a murderer or a victim? Will the family letters from those years, the memories of his descendants and his summaries shed light?
