Estás muy callada hoy
Navajas, Ana
You are very quiet today follows in the footsteps of the narrator in Buenos Aires after the death of her mother and her occasional trips to the provinces to visit her father, who now lives alone in the house where she grew up. The reader sees her in different roles: as a mother of two children, a wife, a daughter, a sister, but also as a motherless girl. Over the years she begins to wonder who she is when she is alone, without having to take care of anyone else, when she stops attending to the needs of the people around her. Recalling her childhood, her relationships with her siblings and with her mother, noticing that she is no closer to her father now than before she was widowed, she also sees her children grow up. Her two daughters, Rosa and Elena, don't need much from her anymore, but her youngest, Pedro, has strange obsessions and suffers a lot from her. And in front of her, he feels that he has less and less in common with her husband, which will lead him to rethink her marriage.
