Evolución dispersa
Valenzuela, Víctor María
Welcome to the future. The world is constantly changing and mutating, driven by avant-garde technologies, diverse interests and immense capitals that travel through high-speed networks following the stock markets, vulture funds and the most profitable speculations. A society where people are systematically ignored and their rights become mere memories of the past. Scattered evolution presents us with a world where massive automation is leaving millions of people out of work and without a future. Under this reality, a group of people headed by a populist and charismatic leader manages to unite an army of discontented dispossessed. With a mixture of political parties, pressure lobbies and armed militias, they manage to establish a new world order where the new advances in robotics, artificial intelligence and genetic manipulation are seen as aberrations. From this moment on, the novel describes the evolution of four species. Terrestrial humans, self-styled the Pure. Gene humans, the space clan that survives at the cost of profound genetic alterations. Human Technicians carrying cybernetic implants and AI captive symbiotes that allow them to operate in free fall and finally the Ecosystem, a network of self-conscious artificial intelligence.
