Fernando VII

Fernando VII

un rey deseado y detestado

La Parra López, Emilio

Fernando VII (1784-1833) has been considered one of the most disastrous monarchs in the history of Spain, both for his character, highly influential, determined by his doubleness and mistrust of everything and everyone, as well as his actions. Authoritarian and cruel, he exercised accused personal power and repressed all dissent. Among other consequences, this meant the loss of almost all of the American colonies and the decline of Spain as an international power.
