Gordo de Porcelana
Pascual, David
This is an adventure novel, the story of the worst family in the world and the memory of a unique friendship between two teenagers with no future. Its protagonist, Dolo, is a woman who grew up surrounded by imbeciles and violent brothers, between oiled bodies and endless summers on the Levantine coast. Now Dolo is a woman broken by her past, who spends her days between psychiatric hospitals and prisons remembering her lysergic years as the creator of the only Spanish anime that has been sold in Japan: Gordo de Porcelana. But above all this novel is a pot life that, between page and page, the worst of the worst of the Spanish miracle of the nineties sneaks up on you; Felipe González, shacks, the smell of sunscreen and plastic, privatizations, the inheritance of the LAGs. This is the part of the back cover texts in which something exaggerated is said about the book, but we prefer not to lie to you: reading David Pascual is irreversible because it shows you in a dirty and broken mirror the lie on which we have built our supposed modernity. And you have as much fun as an arson mechanic watching a burning car fall off a cliff.
