Under the despotic rule of Xan Lyppiat, the Guardian of England, the old live in despair and the young in cruelty. Theo Faren, cousin of the Guardian, leads a lonely life, resigned to the sinister time that has befallen him. Until a chance meeting with a woman leads him to contact a group of dissidents.
