Imatges latents
la fotografia en transició
Fontcuberta, Joan
Since the beginning of the 19th century, the evolution of photography has been linked to technological innovations, advances in science and the progress of communications, within the reach of a minority But from the moment when the generation and dissemination of images is already in everyone's hands, photography has acquired another dimension and plays another role both in our individual lives and in the public and collective sphere. Our contemporary society has forged an eminently visual culture: what the camera captures goes far beyond reality. Our gaze can already be the product of an artificial intelligence alien to our body. What has become of what the photograph revealed, of the latency of a time that was hidden in it? The oversaturation of the images we are exposed to has made us realize that the photographs now make us, rather than us making them. Post-photography is already here and our memory will have to dialogue with it. The twelve texts that make up the book are accompanied by eighteen photographic reproductions of works by Joan Fontcuberta and other authors.
