Isabel de Hungría
Princesa de la caridad
Sabourdin-Perrin, Dominique
A great spiritual figure of the 13th century, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231) was the daughter of Andrew II of Hungary and wife of Louis IV of Thuringia. Mother of three children, this princess, whose short life mixed legend and truth, never stopped lovingly caring for the weakest, children, the poor and the sick. When she was widowed when she was still very young, stripped of all emotional and material ties, Elizabeth committed herself to her charity by following Saint Francis. Her fame, which has lasted for eight hundred years, has led her to be called "the princess of the poor".
