Justiniano, emperador de los romanos
González Fernández, Rafael (1962- )
Flavius Petrus Sabbatius Iustinianus, Roman-Byzantine emperor, determined with his actions and attitudes the course of history. His personality covers practically the entire 6th century and is the reference point of his time in the Roman world. His conquests of the old western empire, the creation of the Corpus Juris Civilis or simply the construction of the church of Santa Sofia are facts that by themselves place him as an outstanding figure. He also knew or was lucky enough to surround himself with collaborators who, in turn, are almost as well known and famous as himself: Theodora, Triboniano, Juan de Capadocia, Narsés... The rapport became such that it is sometimes impossible to separate to one of the others. This work examines, from ancient sources and modern research, the different areas of the government of Justinian and his time. The result is a text aimed both at the university world and at anyone interested in his figure and in this transition stage from the Ancient Ages to the Middle Ages.
