La banda de los polacos
Jeanmaire, Federico
In this novel there is an old newsstand named Borges who speculates about the existence of God and has strange visions. In one of those visions, he glimpsed a band of Poles, seven in particular -perhaps like Roberto Arlt's seven crazy people-, who are Poles not because they were born in that country, but because they are blond and white-skinned in a country of people of brown complexion. The seven Poles are seven kids who, spurred on by La Yesi - La Polaca is also called La Colorada because she is not blonde, but redheaded and the whitest of all - decide to find a goal in life: to do good, to help others. They then go to the village church and convince the priest -and the bishop- to support them in their mission, and they begin to be known as the Wojtyla. But this task, engineered by Yesi, hides a secret and Machiavellian plan that seeks to avenge the reason that caused the color of her skin and her Polish condition.
