La deshonra de Sarah Ikker

Khadra, Yasmina

Lieutenant Driss Ikker is in the prime of his life. He enjoys a happy marriage to Sarah, the daughter of a senior Moroccan police officer; he lives more than well off and has been given an uncomplicated assignment in Tangier, under the command of one of his father-in-law's henchmen. But everything is going to fall apart when he one day he returns to his chalet early and finds Sarah in bed, naked and bound. When he tries to help her, he receives a heavy blow. Upon regaining consciousness he will find out that Sarah has been raped. Despair seizes the young lieutenant. His only obsession is to find out who committed such a crime. Although his commands try to remove him from the case, Driss Ikker is going to do his own investigations outside the official investigation. Without imagining that the result of his investigations can be worse than the damage already done. A new intrigue novel by Yasmina Khadra; a portrait of Maghreb society at its different social levels; a reflection on honor and prejudice, on the female condition in the Muslim world.
