La frontera de piedra
Premio Edhasa Narrativas Históricas 2023
Zoilo, José
The once green of the prairie has almost disappeared, and the cold is getting worse. These are hard times for the Alans, who fight for their survival. Goar is still just a boy, but he already dreams of emulating the deeds of his grandfather, the great warrior Beuca, and riding bow in hand alongside his cousin Safrax. But danger lurks on all fronts. From the east, the Hunnic demons, having already driven them from the lands of their ancestors, advance relentlessly; and to the south, the mighty Roman Empire watches over the tribes from beyond the stone border. Soon Goar will be forced to leave his home, along with many other companions, to serve under the banners of Rome. Safrax's fate, however, will be tied to his people forever. But this will only be the beginning, as the struggle for land and power is about to begin. The fate of the tribes seems to be sealed: Emperor Valens plans their destruction in a great battle near Adrianople. Only united will they be able to contain the legions. And this is his story.
