La gobernadora
Beatriz de Bobadilla la mujer que sedujo a Fernando el católico y Cristóbal Colon y supo manejar el poder para convertirse en la señora de las islas Canarias
Escobar Golderos, Mario
Beatriz de Bobadilla y Ulloa (1462-1504) was one of the most influential women of her time, and yet today she is largely forgotten. She was the lover of Fernando el Católico and Christopher Columbus, she became governor of the islands of La Gomera and El Hierro. Mario Escobar has masterfully fictionalized the incredible and adventurous life of this woman who contributed to the conquest of the Canary Islands and who stood out for her cruelty, beauty and passion. Barely twenty years old, she arrived at the court of the Catholic Monarchs supported by her aunt, the Marchioness of Moya. Her extraordinary beauty soon made her the object of desire of the most powerful men of her time. Even King Ferdinand was so taken with her that Queen Isabella and the Marchioness of Moya hatched a plan to get her out of court: marry her off to Hernán Peraza, who was at the forefront of the conquest of La Gomera. Beatriz never forgot all those who used her and throughout her life she sought revenge, using Christopher Columbus and other powerful men to get it.
