Alex Vogel is a woman who has always achieved everything she has set out to do in life, without ever breaking the rules. When she accepts a desirable job offer at a prestigious Manhattan law firm, she promises her longtime boyfriend that her job won't change her. But Alex is seduced by the firm's money and energy... and by the smugness of her male colleagues, who soon set their sights on the new girl. After an event that reveals the sordid reality of the firm, Alex sees more clearly than ever all the subtle ways women like her are told how to behave if they want to succeed in their jobs.
