La muela
Villajos, Rosario
Rebeca flees from her family, from the grief not overcome by the death of her father and a mother, almost blind, that she leaves in charge of her sister. She now looks for her place in London, where she survives with a fifty-hour-a-week job in a dirty loft shared with mice, made from microwave soups, imaginary conversations with David Attenborough and her sister on the other end of the phone as the only support. Her new friendships and her future goals are as ephemeral as the effort to communicate in another language, and her loneliness becomes as deep as the hole where her tooth was. "La muela" is a disturbing and delusional novel, read with the intensity with which you admire a fire and destroy with the same material that dreams are made of.
