La reencarnació de la Matèria i altres relats
Girbal Jaume, Eduard
This volume brings together all the stories we know to this day by Eduard Girbal Jaume, an author we were able to read a few years ago through the re-edition of his novel trilogy (Oratjol de la Serra, L'estrella amb cua and La tragedy of Cal Pere Llarg). This time, with stories written between 1920 and 1933, Girbal presents us with an urban face that allows us to walk around Barcelona from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, from bloody trams, spiritualist nuclei and street animals; for that of the second decade of the twentieth century, with the working world, strikes and mischief, and for the Barcelona of a little later, of the employers and the supporters clubs of brave and eared. We also return to the sourness of the land with some fantastic tales that we could place in the same setting of his great novels. Among the female characters we will find pioneering working women making their way in a hostile world, witches, operetta singers...; among the males, immigrant workers, children of good house, inspectors of education ... Again we will be able to watch some strong scene that had to be eagerly read and immediately irremissibly censored by the lickers, like the carnal toy between two young women between hedges, and many more surprises.
