La tía Julia y el escribidor
Vargas Llosa, Mario
Already in the title of this novel by Mario Vargas Llosa, published in 1977, the double story in which its plot is structured is collected: on the one hand, the love affair of the young writer Varguitas with a woman from his family who is older than him, the Aunt Julia; and on the other, the outrageous presence of the serializer Pedro Camacho at the same radio station where Varguitas works. The noble love passion between Aunt Julia and the novelist's apprentice, which Lima society in the fifties tries by all means to prevent, is combined in this novel by Vargas Llosa with the gruesome narrations of the ondas serializer. The counterpoint of a fiery passion with Shakespearean airs and its melodramatic correlate and the unexpected confluence of the devotee of high literature and the creeping writer are some of the keys to this major narrative by Mario Vargas Llosa. Aunt Julia and the writer gathers the interest of adventure stories, where the reader's attention is subject to a continuously postponed happy ending, and the most hilarious and grotesque hobby, thanks without a doubt to the amusing contributions of the writer Camacho, one of the great characters of the Peruvian novelist.
