La versión de Barney

Richler, Mordecai

At the age of 67, and before it is too late, Barney Panofsky writes his memoirs with the intention of refuting the slanders of his archenemy, the writer Terry McIver, and in particular the accusation of having murdered his best friend from his youth, Boogie. Between cigars, a lot of whiskey and an obsession with ice hockey that even led him to live his wedding night pending the score of a game, Barney takes stock of his life: from his youth, delivered to a dissipated existence while pretending to become from a writer in Paris, to his mature years in his native Montreal, where he made his fortune with a television series production company called Totally Unnecessary Productions. Tormented by the remorse of having lost his true love, his beloved third wife, Miriam, there is one thing Barney will never lose, however: his acid humor that allows him to make fun of everything, especially himself.
