For centuries we have been The Escritos: those without a voice whose story was always told by others. Others who, by telling us, modeled us with the clay of their fear and desire, divided us into the opposing images of Mary and Eve, prescribed how we should be. It is not surprising that in our literature the rewriting of female characters and myths has been a constant. This book delves into that tradition of women's writing and plays at imagining what Penelope, Cassandra, Lilith, Ofelia or Scheherazade would have said, in order to unravel what is woven, blur the male story (interested, biased, marked by the stigma patriarchal) and remake the world that was built on it, while paying homage to some of the teachers who preceded us, making visible the pitfalls they faced; conceiving writing as what saved them.
