When Andrew stumbles upon Jamie's house, he is injured, starving, and has nothing left to lose. A deadly pathogen has wiped out much of the world's population, including all of the two boys' loved ones. If they've learned anything in this new world, it's that they should be afraid of what other desperate people might do to them... So why do they find it so easy to trust each other? When danger breaks into their refuge, they flee south in search of civilization. But in Andrew's story there is something that doesn't quite add up and that could take everything away from both of them. Jamie also has a secret. He's starting to feel more than just friendship for Andrew, and it adds another layer of fear and confusion to an already tumultuous journey. The road ahead of them is long, and to survive, they will have to shed their secrets, face the consequences of their actions, and find the courage to fight together for the future they want. There is only one certainty: the only thing they have left in the world is the undeniable attraction they feel towards each other.
