Manual de despedidas
Benová, Jana
In a Bratislava where the echoes of socialism still reverberate, two pairs of friends -the Quartet- spend hours at the Café Viena -or Café Hiena, as they call it- drinking wine and talking about literature, David Lynch, the human and the divine. Armed with an irreverent irony, they flee from the futile seriousness of a stable job, from the deaf rootlessness that runs through them. One of the members of the Quartet portrays their lives. He is Elza, a fascinating character trapped in the Petrvonalka neighborhood, that labyrinth anchored in another time, where absurdity and nonsense appear between concrete apartment blocks and evoke past wounds that determine the reality of his erratic present.
