Mi vida en Cuba

Juan Padrón, the mythical creator of Elpidio Valdés and Vampiros in Havana, began in 2017 to draw his life, crossed by the 20th century: the arrival in Cuba of his Spanish ancestors, US imperialism, the Revolution, the ravages of the Cold War, the umbrella of the Soviet Union... His story is composed of a great variety of family and personal stories that in turn weave a history in capital letters, individual and collective. In all of them his sincere testimony stands out, while he tells us how he developed his passion for drawing in a profession in what is probably the most unpredictable country in Latin America. One year after the death of Juan Padrón, it is an honor for Reservoir Books to publish his latest work, which places him directly in the olympus of the great cartoonists who recounted his youth in vignettes.
