Nadie se apeará en Turuñana, camino de Canfranc
Galtier-Martí, Ricardo
The story in Turuñana takes place at the same time that international rail traffic through Canfranc is permanently interrupted, after a bridge on the French side of the route has collapsed. The closure will cause all the inhabitants of this strange place, located more than a hundred kilometers from the border, an uncertainty previously unthinkable. Wherever they needed nothing, they will have to give up everything, because Turuñana will cease to be useful without the transfer of travelers and goods to the center of Europe. They will be forced to abandon their destinations and their homes, and to say goodbye to their simple lives at that station, practically plunged into the 19th century, to come face to face with the modernities of 1970. Javier, the new boss, and Virginia, his wife, As well as their children, they will live those years in Turuñana with intensity, expectant before the continuous extravagances and delusions of their neighbors. These scenes are narrated by the author with a Berlanganian skill, and pay, with more than a wink, a particular tribute to the filmmakers Emir Kusturica and Jirí Menzel, in an explosive cocktail of humor (of intelligent humor, in abundance and without distilling ), grotesque, irony, surrealism, mockery and tenderness. The new railway family will also be moved by the enormous beauty of the landscapes of that basement in Huesca, which are dressed and undress profusely with the passage of the solstices and equinoxes.
