Napalm en el corazón

Napalm en el corazón

Guasch, Pol

Set in an ambiguous geography, Pol Guasch's first novel puts into dance a couple of boys who have grown up in a militarized area, marked by precarious living conditions, by the environment's intolerance towards their desire and by families touched by uprooting. The lack of perspectives dominates everything, but they still maintain the possibility of being dazzled and even subdued, of clinging to militancy, tempting violence and continuing to speak a language that is falling apart: theirs. The only alternative is to flee from that barren land. On their journey beyond "the other side", literally carrying the weight of the past in the form of a letter and a corpse to be buried, they will find different answers to shared enigmas. Delicately mounted like a mosaic, written with precision and beauty, "Napalm in the heart" contains a vivid allegory of the various oppressions that determine so many lives, but also of the fine line that sometimes separates the victim from the executioner.
