Niña de octubre

Boström Knausgård, Linda

October Girl is both an angry challenge to certain psychiatric practices and a desperate attempt to cling to memories, the main retaining wall of a fragile and dismembered self. From confinement to confinement, the narrator struggles to retain the tenuous threads that unite her to the outside world and structure the story of her life: the dazzle of her first childhood readings, a romantic getaway to Venice, the transcendent joy of motherhood, but also the long shadow of a tormented father, the melancholy that haunts his days from a very young age, and the slow collapse of his marriage to a famous writer. In short, the notches of a difficult biography, but receptive to love, beauty and redemption, always preferable, in its contingency, to "nobody's life" of the psychiatric patient.
